Master Stonemasonry Built on Unyielding Foundations
Poorly built boundary walls and entrance piers quickly crack and tilt when contractors dig shallow footings in soft Irish clay. Without deep reinforced concrete trench foundations and weep holes for hydrostatic drainage relief, winter frosts heave the base, fracturing mortar joints and causing expensive collapses.
At Elevate Roofing & Building, our stonemasons blend traditional hand-dressed stone craft with rigorous modern engineering. We excavate down to solid load-bearing subsoil, pour steel-reinforced C25/30 concrete strip footings, and hand-cut native Irish limestone, Donegal quartz, or sandstone. Whether building dry-stone effect facades, entrance gate pillars, or structural retaining walls, our masonry adds massive curb appeal and lasting security.
Our Stone & Blockwork Services
Hand-dressed natural Irish fieldstone, blue-grey limestone, and golden sandstone laid in traditional coursed or random rubble patterns.
Substantial stone entrance pillars built with internal reinforced concrete cores, electrical conduit for automated gates, and cut stone pyramid caps.
Heavy-duty concrete block boundary walls, capped and plastered with sand/cement render or finished with decorative nap coats.
Built to hold back steep garden banks with weep holes, geotextile filtration fabric, and clean backfill stone to prevent water pressure.
Cladding external house fronts, bay windows, and front entrance porches with natural stone slips or full building stone.
Excavation and pouring of reinforced foundation trenches and sub-floor concrete slabs for extensions and outbuildings.
Our Stonemasonry Build Standards
Ground Excavation & Steel Trench Pour
We dig minimum 600mm deep trenches to bypass soft topsoil and pour certified concrete reinforced with high-tensile steel mesh.
Structural Block Core Construction
Entrance piers and heavy retaining walls are built with dense 7N concrete blocks tied together with steel rebar rods.
Hand-Dressing & Precision Stone Laying
Our stonemasons hand-chisel each stone to ensure tight mortar joints, flush facing, and balanced visual grain distribution.
Joint Striking, Acid Wash & Clean Handover
Mortar joints are recessed or bucket-handle struck, stone faces are cleaned of cement haze, and surrounding ground is leveled.
